THE SENIOR EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

The Senior Employment Program (SEP) is a program of the Town of Bedford and administered by the Council on Aging that offers nine Bedford senior citizens the opportunity to contribute up to 100 hours of service to the Town and receive up to $800 ($8.00 per hour). It is intended that the money be used to help pay local property taxes or the tax portion of a senior’s rent. All participants must be 60 years of age. Priority applicants must have annual household incomes of less than $46,300(single) or $52,950(couple) and be first time applicants and homeowners. Second priority is given to homeowners who do not meet the guidelines, but have a special skill of service to the Town. Third priority will be given to renters who meet income guidelines. Fourth priority will be given to renters who do not meet income guidelines but have a special skill to the requesting department. All Town departments are encouraged to request, employ and supervise senior employment participants. The program runs concurrent with the fiscal year.
