Sanitary Sewer Overflow Notification – 299 Great Rd, Bedford MA
On January 10, 2024 at approximately 10:00 AM, a sanitary sewer overflow near 299 Great Road was identified by the Bedford Department of Public Works. The overflow is on-going, and it is estimated that a volume of 5000 gallons of discharge has been released so far as of 10:50 AM. The overflow likely consists of untreated sewage and waste.
Potentially affected municipalities include Bedford, Burlington, and Billerica, and potentially affected water bodies include Shawsheen River. Avoid contact with these water bodies for 48 hours after the discharge or overflow ceases due to increased health risks from bacteria and other pollutants.
