
The Patrol Division is the largest division within the Bedford Police Department. Its primary responsibility is to provide quality uniformed law enforcement service to the community. The Patrol division is open 7 days a week 365 days a year. A Lieutenant commands the Division. A Sergeant is the Officer-In-Charge of the shift that consists of generally 2 or 3 Patrol Officers.
Operations personnel respond to calls for service as well as performing community assignments. These assignments included addressing wide-ranging quality of life issues for the citizens of Bedford. These proactive assignments vary between enforcing traffic and parking laws, patrolling playgrounds and parks, preserving the peace, protecting life and property of all the Town’s citizens. Through the analysis of crime trends and partnerships with the community, patrol officers are deployed to specific locations to maximize police resources.
