As you exit from your car in the parking lot behind the Town Center, you'll see this double-door entrance. It takes you into the COA. Step right in!
Inside, to your right, is the reception desk. Here you will be graciously welcomed by Alissa Anderson, our COA Assistant. She'll help you sign up for classes or events, find where an activity will be held, or obtain other information.
The large open area on the first floor is our "Kitchen" - the perfect place to sit and have a cup of coffee, chat with friends, and just relax! Visible through its windows is our Game Room.
Every afternoon we have an enthusiastic group of game players who enjoy bridge, poker, or card games. No need to sign up, just come on down at about 1 p.m. each day!
Next is our Resource Room, with online computers for your use, books, videos, brochures on elder-related topics, and comfy places to sit and read or talk with friends. On Saturdays we show movies here. Pictured is our computer "drop-in" lessons.
The Shawsheen Room is on the mezzanine level. To get there we can use either this ramp or the short flight of steps seen in the Kitchen photo.
Fitness classes held in the Shawsheen Room Monday through Friday include aerobics, weight strengthening, Tai Chi, Yoga, personal fitness, & line dancing. Most classes adapt to various levels of fitness. Sign up in advance.
Up the stairs (or elevator), on the second floor, is the Counseling Room where individual help on health benefits, legal issues, and taxes is given by appointment; and the Fitch Room, home to our interest groups, discussion groups, and support groups.
Also on the second floor is the Flint Room. We use this room for informational presentations and other activities.
Down the hall from the Flint Room is the Art Room/Fix-It Shop. In this room, small appliances, watches and other non-electronic items are repaired for Bedford residents. Art and crafts classes are also held here (sign up in advance).
