Sunday-Monday Storm Update: Anticipated Response to Incoming Nor’easter
TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTION HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR MONDAY FEBRUARY 23. Collection will occur on Tuesday.
This includes trash, recycling and bulky item collection. Food waste subscribers will receive an email from Black Earth Compost with updated collection details.
Curbside Collection Guidance
Residents are urged to wait to place collection carts at the curbside until snowfall has stopped. We understand this can be a challenging balance between waiting long enough and waiting too long. However:
- Carts placed too early may be plowed into snowbanks, damaged, or knocked over.
- Early placement can also impede snow removal operations during active snowfall.
Once snow has been cleared from the roadway, please place your snow-free cart at the curbside:
- At least two feet away from snowbanks on all sides
- Clear of utility poles and mailboxes
- Separated from other wheeled carts
Proper placement helps ensure safe and efficient snow removal and collection operations.
If you experience a missed collection, don’t worry! Contact DPW to schedule a recovery collection, which will occur as soon as the next day.
DPW greatly appreciates the public’s patience as we navigate the complexities of a Sunday evening snowstorm and its impact on curbside collection services.
