The Massachusetts Attorney General has approved Bedford's zoning amendments for Multifamily Housing, which were passed by the Annual Town Meeting in March, 2024 in order to comply with the 'MBTA Communities law' (Section 3A of Chapter 40A of Massachusetts General Laws). Information on the bylaw amendments is available on the website at MBTA Communities Multifamily Zoning Requirement | Bedford, MA (bedfordma.gov). The Town Clerk's record of Town Meeting is available at 4/27/99 (bedfordma.gov)
The new zoning bylaw is deemed to take effect from the date of the Town Meeting vote (March 25, 2024). The AG's letter included some recommendations to consider future adjustments to other existing zoning bylaw provisions for clarity and consistency in relation to the approved amendments.
