On March 25, 2025, Bedford's Town Meeting voted to approve two articles that represent the culmination of the Zoning Bylaw Reorganization Project led by the Planning Board. The main reorganized document was presented as Article 23. It has a new arrangement of sections, numerous small corrections and clarifications, and updates to reflect changes in relevant laws and new floodplain maps. It incorporates the zoning amendments that were passed at the November Special Town Meeting (and since approved by the AG). The topic of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) was separated out as Article 24 to highlight amendments that are designed to comply with very recent state legislation and regulations on that topic.
For further information, see our Zoning Bylaw Reorganization page. The documentation will now be forwarded to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office for the required approval (to confirm no conflict with state law). Once approved by the AG, zoning amendments are treated as being in effect from the date of the Town Meeting vote.
